Weight: 5 kg
Material: carved wood, lacquer, gilding and mirror/glass inlay
Origin: Indonesia
Date: c. 1980
Large standing Indonesian Buddha richly decorated with gold-coloured lacquer, dark accents and inset mirror or glass elements. The robe is deeply carved with floral and linear ornament, while the tall slender proportions and lotus-form pedestal give the figure a distinctive decorative presence.
The head is framed by a broad ornamented band and stylised hair curls. The front and sides are extensively gilded. Multiple round mirror or glass elements are set into the robe; several are missing or partly weathered. The hands hang relaxed alongside the body.
Good vintage condition with wear from use, rubbing to the gilding, minor lacquer losses and several missing or damaged inlaid elements, consistent with age and use.
Each object is examined before it is offered: material, casting or carving technique, surface, and signs of age are compared with documented references. You will receive a certificate of authenticity and an official invoice detailing the period, material, and available provenance.
Fully insured worldwide shipping in museum-quality packaging. Returns are sent to our Dutch address and you have a 14-day cooling-off period.
