A Javanese wayang golek puppet of 82 cm, a wooden rod puppet from the tradition of Indonesian puppet theatre. It is operated with a central wooden rod through the body and two thin rods attached to the hands.
The carved head has a white-painted face with finely drawn eyes and brows, black hair and a tall, ornate crown in green, red and gold with a blue head motif at the back. The jointed wooden arms are gilded with red accents. The costume consists of a black velvet bodice with gold embroidery and sequins, a red sash and a skirt of batik fabric.
Good condition with light signs of use. A handwritten number appears on the rod; please see the detail photos.
