Vajradhatu Mandala Thangka – Ritual Meditation Thangka with the Five Dhyani Buddhas (Lot 344)

Estimated value: €1,200 – €1,600

This Vajradhatu mandala thangka is made to bring peace, order, and protection. The mandala acts as a visual anchor: it helps direct attention inward and creates a sense of overview and stability. The five Dhyani Buddhas together form a powerful whole that is traditionally used to find balance between thinking, feeling, and acting.

What you gain from this work is a strong presence in the space. Due to its size and clear, symmetrical composition, the mandala has a calming and structuring effect. This is not a decorative canvas, but a meditation image meant to be paused upon, used, and lived by daily.

Why choose this piece: it is large, compelling, and clearly made for serious use. The gold-colored background, the fine linework, and the visible aging show that this is a thangka that has served a function within a spiritual context for many years. The cloth exudes calm and concentration without being intrusive. The value of this thangka lies in the combination of size, iconography, and age. Large Vajradhatu mandalas from Nepal and Tibet are valued for their ritual significance and enduring collector's value. This example holds a stable place within that segment. Dimensions: H 80 × W 60 cm
