Maurice Stoppani (1921–2012) – Young Girl Wise
This original pencil drawing by the French master Maurice Stoppani is a tribute to the purity of the line. Stoppani, a respected painter from Lyon and teacher at the Lycée du Parc, demonstrates his complete mastery of anatomy and expression in this work.
Academic Mastery from 1967
Dated March 8, 1967, this portrait captures the essence of a young woman with a restrained and serene expression. The technique, a combination of pencil and charcoal, creates a beautiful contrast between the sharp contours and the soft shading that gives volume to the clothing and hair.
Origin and Status
This work comes directly from the artist's studio fund. The large format of 65x50 cm gives the drawing a monumental presence. The paper is in good condition and the work is hand-signed by the artist.
