Mandala Thangka Cloth – Ritual Protective Meditation Image, Nepal – lot 340

Estimated value: €350

This authentic mandala thangka cloth was made for ritual use and meditation. The mandala functions as a visual anchor: a force field that brings calm, protection, and focus to spaces where meditation or reflection takes place regularly. Through prolonged use, the cloth has built up a palpable, calm presence.

This is not a decorative work, but a functional meditation image. The complex structure, repetition of figures, and central symmetry are intended to order the mind and protect it from unrest. The cloth invites slowing down and deepening, and has a strengthening effect for those consciously engaged in silence or concentration.

Why this piece is special: the cloth is demonstrably older, visibly used, and hand-painted according to traditional Nepalese methods. The wear, patina, and reverse side confirm long-term ritual use. The value is established within the current market for authentic Nepalese thangkas and remains stable due to the combination of age, condition, and iconographic quality.
