Antique 19th-Century Bronze Shan Buddha (35 cm / 3 kg)
This monumental bronze statue is a classic example of 19th-century Shan art from the border region of Northern Thailand and Burma (Myanmar). With a height of 35 cm and a solid weight of 3 kg, this is a substantial altarpiece that radiates tranquility and authority.
Historical & Spiritual Value
- Ritual Integrity: The statue is still ritually sealed with its original bronze base plate. This indicates that the internal consecration (offering trays/sutras) has remained intact.
- Iconography: Depicted in the Bhumisparsha Mudra (touching the earth as a witness). The raised, pointed ushnisha and the serene, almond-shaped eyes are characteristic of the refined Shan style.
- Authentic Patina: The bronze has developed a beautiful, deep chocolate brown patina over the years, with light traces of natural oxidation confirming its age.
