Antique Gothic Church Interior – Signed Louis-Charles Crespin – 53 x 43 cm – Dated 1930
Specifications: H 53 × W 43 cm (Including wooden frame) | Hand-Signed & Dated 1930 | Handwritten Provenance (Christmas Day 1977)
We proudly present a historically and emotionally beautifully documented masterpiece of the Belgian School: an original antique hand-painted church interior (mixed media / watercolor) by the renowned painter and etcher Louis-Charles Crespin (1889–1953). This monumental and atmospheric artwork was personally dated 1930 by the master. With total dimensions of 53 by 43 cm, the work is in fabulous, unrestored, and original condition, fully housed in its high-quality wooden design frame with passe-partout.
Impressionistic Atmosphere & Monumental Architecture
This hand-signed masterpiece stands out for its fabulous depth effect and immediately brings a devout, mystical, and highly exclusive atmosphere as wall art to any modern or classic high-end interior:
- Mighty Gothic Cathedral: The composition draws the eye deep into the nave of an immense cathedral, surrounded by monumental stone arches and stained-glass windows through which the sunlight breaks mystically. In the foreground, a massed crowd / religious procession in dark robes is captured in an unparalleled impressionistic manner.
- Impeccable Signature: In the lower right corner is the sharp, original signature "L. Ch. Crespin 1930". Over time, the ink has completely fused with the fibers of the paper, guaranteeing absolute authenticity.
Verified Provenance (Christmas Day 1977)
The reverse side of the framed work provides a magnificent historical document of the time, full of character. The back features an authentic, handwritten sticker reflecting that this precious artwork was gifted on Christmas Day 1977 within an affluent art circle. The provenance is correlated by the original inventory sticker with the artist's name and the registration code (B47). The work is securely sealed in the original frame with authentic metal mounting pins. 100% honest and nonsense-free.
